Major Dental Expansion Coming to Hometown Health Centers!

Monday, Aug. 9, 2021 -- Exciting news! Hometown Health Centers (HHC) will soon break ground on a new state-of-the art dental facility that will serve all of Schenectady and residents from the surrounding Capital Region communities.  The new site is scheduled to open in late 2023.

 

In the meantime, with Ellis Medicine’s recent decision to stop providing dental care, HHC is happy to announce that we are now seeing new dental patients at the hospital’s 600 McClellan Street Health Center Campus (site of former St. Claire’s Hospital).  The new site will serve as a temporary practice to complement the existing dental services offered at HHC’s 1044 State Street location.  It will also provide additional access to many former Ellis dental patients so they will not suffer from gaps in care.

The demand from local children and adults for dental services continues to grow and with the closure of Ellis’ dental program, HHC is now the only Medicaid dental provider in Schenectady County.

HHC has been busy preparing for the transition by hiring a new group of dental professionals, purchasing additional equipment, and making sure the appropriate business and operational procedures are in place to ensure a smooth workflow and transition.

Staff are ready and look forward to being able to meet the dental needs that exist within the community. This is a big moment for the health center, its staff and patients.  We all look forward to providing the best possible care to those who need it most
