U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $6.4 million in funding for 62 community health centers across New York state. The Health Center Quality Improvement funds are being given to centers that have exceeded or met quality standards and patient care goals.

Among the recipients is Schenectady Family Health Services Inc., on State Street. Known better as Hometown Health Centers, the organization received $85,502 in funding.

The other Capital Region facility to receive federal funds is Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center Inc., which is on Lark Drive in Albany. It will get $61,680.

The funds will continue to increase access to primary health care services, according to a prepared statement.

“This grant will help local health care centers in our state meet demand and expand to provide new services,” Gillibrand said in the prepared statement.
